The 5 hottest wedding flower trends for Summer

The team at The Flower Shop Southampton are SO excited for Weddings! After a longgggggg wait, and 3 lockdowns, it has been amazing to safely meet with happy couples again since our flower shops reopened last month. Our trained florists love working with each couple to create bespoke wedding flowers - and even more now since we know how long some of you have waited to say 'I Do' meaning your wedding flowers are extra special.

And with all this excitement for wedding season building by the day, we wanted to share some of our favourite flower trends for Summer 2021. So dig out your best wedding hat and pour a glass of champagne, weddings are back ... and better than ever!

Wedding trend #1 Go All Green

A huge trend for 2021 weddings will be the Go All Green option. Couples want gorgeous designs full of lush green foliage mixed with plants for a boho jungle vibe - think giant ferns, scented eucalyptus, palm leaves, rosemary trees, wild grasses ...the list goes on! Small potted plants and herbs also make for great wedding table centres and aisle decorations.

For a real back to nature feel, the greenery looks fabulous mixed with natural wood accessories such as pallets or tree trunks or for a modern twist try marble or copper accessories.

Wedding trend #2 Wedding weekends

Due to the pandemic, loved up couples have waited patiently to be able to say I Do and want it to be a long, lavish celebration with their nearest and dearest. Long weekends spent enjoying the whole wedding experience with guests – mini hen and stag dos the day before, relaxed wedding ceremony, recovery BBQs round the pool the day after.

If you are planning a long weekend of wedding, our expert florists can help advise on multi-use floral displays so you can easily move and transport them for your different celebrations and offer tips on the best blooms to last longer in displays.

Wedding trend #3 Floating flowers

For a really striking feel, The Flower Shop Southampton can design stunning floating florals and flower installations that will create that magical WOW for you and your wedding guests. Suspended from the ceilings, floating flowers add an extra layer to the reception venue decorations - especially with large spaces such as marquees and bell tents.

We love thinking outside the box and creating wedding flowers that are really unique for you, whilst complimenting the space we are transforming. With years' of experience and working with local wedding venues in Southampton and throughout Hampshire and the New Forest, our team can give you the guidance on choosing the right flowers within budget.

Wedding trend #4 Bold bouquets

'All things bright and beautiful' is the inspiration for bridal flowers in 2021. Brides are asking for romantic flowers with a passionately bold twist – hot pinks, soft peach, rich burgundy, happy yellow and tropical purples.

In the Summer months there is an abundance of stylish blooms at our finger tips to use that are perfect for this bridal bouquet trend; garden roses, dahlias, orchids , craspedia and of course the ever popular peonies. Just look how stunning this mix of textures and colours creates a statement bridal bouquet for Summer brides.

Wedding trend #5 The great outdoors

People have been going wild for the Outdoor In style for weddings in 2021 , with bookings for  outdoor structures such as marquees, bell tents and igloos going through the roof. The great thing with structures like these is they start as a blank canvas which can be transformed into your dream wedding theme.

Our wedding specialists can help recommend floral designs and styling that will be perfect for your Outdoor In inspired wedding day decor. From gorgeous flower archways, twinkling fairy lights, romantic lantern candles and draping green foliage - even on the greyest of English Summer days, your wedding venue will look Instagram worthy!
