Autumn Inspiration for 2020

The crisp Autumn days are getting closer, so time to unpack your snuggly-est jumpers, dig out your favourite boxset and stock up on hot chocolate (don't forget marshmallows!). The Autumn months are beautiful in Hampshire; we are surrounded by gorgeous forest walks to enjoy the fall leaves or go for a brisk sea-air walk on the beach. What’s your favourite place to explore in Autumn?

And the fast approach of the Autumn season has got our Southampton florist team excited for the new floral trends for 2020. Read on for our predictions of the hottest flower trends heading our way!

Jewel Colours

When we dream of Autumn colours we think shades of dark plum, burnt orange, rich pinks and berry reds. Our florists love combining these jewel-tone colours together in our hand-tie bouquets for an elegant and seasonal feel. Check out one of our bestselling bespoke bouquets The Jewel which is perfect for Autumnal vibes, and is always one of our most requested gifts in October.

Dazzling Dahlias

Dahlias are in full bloom in the late Summer and Autumn months, and one of our top picks for gift bouquets. Their stunning flower heads remind us of fireworks – an explosion of excitement and colour! Dahlias have a sweet meaning to - representing the message of always be kind.

Blue thistle

These fun, spikey headed little things are actually classed as part of the weed family but we prefer ‘wildflower’. Most commonly associated as the national symbol for Scotland, the Blue Thistle represents strength and life. Blue Thistles have been popular in wedding flowers for the past couple of years, but we also love using them in Autumnal gift bouquets. Their vibrant colour and textured head makes a stunning contrast to soft pink petals of roses and lisianthus.

One of our gorgeous bespoke bouquets Perfectly Pretty Pink & Blue Hand-tied  ticks all the boxes for stylish and seasonal flowers!

All about the foliage

We adore fresh foliage – it adds natural volume and texture to floral designs, bringing a real botanical vibe. This Autumn we predict foliage to still be a hugely popular trend.. Although lush green foliage is most commonly used, there is tons of foliage varities to choose from so our team like to mix it up a bit! From Hypericum red berries, silvery looking eucalyptus, palm leaf to red Photinia, The Flower Shop Southampton sources the finest seasonal foliage to use.

Check out this stunner our Southampton florist team created – an all foliage bouquet, something fun and a bit different for Autumnal vibes.
